  • Supporting scholarly work like quality improvement, national presentations, and publications.
  • Emphasizing care for the whole person — mind, body and spirit — rooted in Jesuit values.

Clinical Rotations in Omaha

We offer a diverse and enriching learning experience during the intern year, with broad exposure to a variety of clinical specialties. This not only strengthens our residents’ clinical education but also fosters meaningful collaboration and camaraderie across hospital teams.

Rotations include:

  • Internal Medicine (2)
  • Neurology
  • General Surgery
  • ENT
  • Cardiology
  • Palliative Medicine
  • Radiology (2 weeks)
  • Nephrology (2 weeks)
  • Critical Care
  • Trauma Surgery
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Clinical Anesthesiology

This year, alongside building a strong foundation in core anesthesia principles through general OR rotations, residents will also gain valuable experience.

Subspecialty areas include:

  • Neuroanesthesiology
  • Obstetric anesthesiology
  • Acute pain management
  • Out-of-OR anesthesia
  • Critical care
  • Preoperative evaluation clinic
  • Post-anesthesia care unit

This year builds upon the foundational knowledge established during the CA-1 year. Rotations are in:

  • Neuroanesthesiology
  • Obstetric anesthesiology
  • Multidisciplinary anesthesiology
  • Critical care

Residents also begin to develop specialized expertise through dedicated rotations in:

  • Cardiac anesthesiology
  • Pediatric anesthesiology
  • Regional and chronic pain management

This year represents the final stage in shaping residents into competent and compassionate anesthesiologists. Multidisciplinary rotations support the transition from learner to care team leader, while advanced experiences in acute pain management and critical care reinforce the knowledge gained during the CA-1 and CA-2 years. Elective rotations provide the flexibility to explore individual interests and gain deeper expertise in chosen subspecialties.

Welcome to the Creighton University Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Residency Program and thank you for your interest!

As the founding Program Director, I am honored to lead a team committed to building a dynamic, supportive and forward-thinking training environment. Our program aims to shape the next generation of anesthesiologists to not only be expert clinicians but also leaders, educators and innovators in our field.

With the launch of our inaugural class in July 2026, we have thoughtfully designed a curriculum centered on clinical excellence, patient safety, wellness and academic growth. Our small, dedicated faculty is united by a shared mission: to mentor residents who will have a lasting impact on their patients, colleagues and communities.

Rooted in the Jesuit principle of cura personalis—care for the whole person—our mission is to advance health equity and improve outcomes for all, with a special commitment to serving the most vulnerable populations.

We are excited to create a culture where collaboration, curiosity and compassion thrive. As a resident here, you will not just be part of a program—you will help build it. That responsibility is a privilege, and we are ready to meet it together.

We are excited to meet you and help you learn more about our program!
