At Creighton University, you’ll join a diverse community of scholars from more than 50 countries, each bringing unique perspectives to campus. As a top-ranked U.S. university, Creighton offers a transformative education rooted in Jesuit, Catholic values. We invite international students who share our commitment to learning, leadership and service to join our vibrant community.
Take a look below to explore the materials international students will need to submit to be considered for admission to Creighton.
The information on this page is designed for undergraduate students. If you are applying to a graduate-level program, explore our information for graduate students.
The first step to becoming a Bluejay is to submit a free application. Our application opens on August 1 for the following academic year, and we encourage students to apply early for the best scholarship eligibility.
Students should be honest and provide official documentation as a part of their application process. If any documents are found to be fraudulent, we reserve the right to cancel the application or rescind the offer of admission.
You will need to write a short essay/personal statement (about a page or 400 words). The essay/personal statement is your chance to demonstrate your writing potential while allowing the Admissions Committee to get to know you better. If you are completing the Common Application, you do not need an additional personal statement or essay; simply use the one included in the Common Application.
Please submit either an official or unofficial high school transcript.
Make sure it includes:
If you submit an unofficial copy, submit an official copy by June 15. An official copy is considered official if it meets one of these criteria:
Submit one or two letters of recommendation, written by one of your teachers, coaches, counselors, or mentors, attesting to your academic and social preparedness to study at Creighton.
During the application process, you'll be asked to provide one of the following:
By providing your bank statement as part of your application, you are acknowledging that you will be able to cover the cost of attendance. Creighton does not offer full-ride scholarships, but does award merit scholarships to accepted students.
International students will need to submit proof of English literacy via one of the following methods.
If you haven't been able to take the ACT/SAT or wish to apply test-optional, let us know here.
If you do submit your scores, we have no preference between ACT and SAT. You are encouraged to submit all test scores, as we do consider a superscore through the evaluation process.
We accept self-reported ACT and SAT scores, so you don't necessarily need to have them sent officially from ACT or College Board just yet. (Note that you will eventually have to send official scores if you enroll at Creighton.)
We have no preference how to get them to us—choose what is easiest for you!
We will review and award scholarships based on the highest possible scholarship outcome. If a student sends scores after admission that would improve their scholarship award, we will re-evaluate. If scores are sent after admission that would negatively affect their scholarship decision, no change will be made.
Option 1: Submit unofficial scores yourself.
Option 2: Submit official scores one of the following ways:
All documents can be submitted via your student portal, submitted electronically or mailed to us at:

“I chose Creighton because of the community. I didn't want to be in a school where I knew I was just going to be a number. Since the moment I stepped foot on this campus, I felt seen and that my peers and professors wanted me to succeed.”
Leticia Taveras, BA’23

We offer college credit to students who have taken Advanced Placement courses, participated in the International Baccalaureate Program, A-level courses and similar programs. Find out more about advanced placement at Creighton.
Use our cost finder tool to discover the latest tuition, fees and cost of attendance. As a private institution, there is no difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at Creighton.
While knowing the tuition, fees, and room and board at a school is an important step in your college search, it might not tell you as much as you think. 99% of our students aren't paying the sticker price at Creighton. That means there are a lot of opportunities to combine merit scholarships and outside scholarships to lower your cost of attendance. The average cost of attendance won't mean as much to you as your cost of attendance.
For this reason, we encourage students to evaluate their financial aid package to fully understand what Creighton will cost for them. These are typically sent out at the end of February. They will outline the full cost of attendance and any aid you are eligible for. We will tell you what your monthly payment would be and what your options for next steps are. We want to help you understand what Creighton looks like for you—financially, academically and socially.
Yes, Creighton offers merit scholarships to students admitted to the University.
You don't need to fill out an additional application for scholarships. You just need to complete your application for admission. Upon application for admission, all students are also evaluated for merit scholarships. This is based primarily on their academic profile (rigor of curriculum, grades, and test scores, among other factors).
We do have a handful of additional scholarship opportunities for eligible students. They are based on specific criteria. If you apply for admission by December 1 and are eligible for these scholarships, we will let you know what next steps you need to take to apply. The deadline for application for these supplemental scholarships is January 10.
All international students who apply to Creighton before March 1 are considered for Matteo Ricci, SJ Awards. We are looking for students who achieve in the classroom, students with extraordinary talent, students who give back to their communities and students who embody Jesuit ideals. Apply today to be considered for this scholarship.
Creighton University works closely with EducationUSA, which is in over 100 countries across the globe. Please reach out to your local EducationUSA branch to see if they have any additional information about local and government scholarships, or payment opportunities that are available to students from your home country.
No, Creighton does not offer need-based financial aid to international students. While we offer as much as we can in merit aid, full-tuition and cost-of-attendance scholarships are not available. Students should not apply unless they can realistically pay the costs associated with attending Creighton.
Your ability to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) depends on your status. If you are a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident/green-card holder, have been granted asylum or refugee status, or fit into one of these categories.
We encourage eligible families to file the FAFAS by January 15. The latest you can file and still receive full financial aid consideration is March 15. If you are eligible, this could include loans (have to be repaid), grants (don't have to be repaid) or work-study opportunities (a guaranteed on-campus job).
You will receive your scholarship decision along with your admissions decision, typically about 4-6 weeks after your application was completed. Our first decisions will be sent in early November.
Creighton University has partnered with TransferMate, a leading cross-border payments provider, to offer you easy, economical and secure international tuition payment options. Learn more about international payments.
We have a non-restrictive early action deadline of November 1. If you apply by this date, you will receive a decision by December 15.
Our priority deadline for scholarship consideration is December 1. We are on rolling admission, so the earlier you apply, the earlier you will receive a decision. Nothing is binding, so there is no downside to applying early.
There are limited work opportunities on campus for students, including international students. Students may work on campus if work is available and only typically after the first semester of classes. Students must apply, interview and work the hours hired for, if they work on campus. Work is not guaranteed to any student and students should not come to Creighton expecting to be hired for a part-time job. Off-campus work is typically not authorized for international students, due to U.S. immigration policies.
Additionally, Optional Practical Training permits international students to receive full-time employment in their field of study upon completing a degree program. Here's where our students have been employed with OPT:
Our students come from more than 50 countries, including:
