The Institute for Population Health, the Kingfisher Institute, and CHI Health will host a free screening of the 35-minute film “How to Sue the Klan” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Benson Theatre, 6054 Maple St., Omaha.
The 2024 documentary shares the legacy of five women and their path to justice following being attacked by members of the Ku Klux Klan in 1980 in Chattanooga, TN. Their story contains insights on advocating for racial justice and public health today. Access to the award-winning film is now available to the Creighton community through the University Libraries. We encourage faculty to consider using it in curricula and for groups to watch and discuss it together.
The screening will be followed by a community panel discussion highlighting local supports and initiatives that address racial justice and public health and safety, with the opportunity to connect with resources and access free firearm safety devices from CHI Health. Pre-registration is encouraged but optional.
