Brian Wilhelmi

Welcome to the Creighton University Anesthesiology Residency Program and thank you for your interest!

As the inaugural residency program director, I am excited to dive into creating the optimal residency experience. At Creighton University School of Medicine in Phoenix, we are gifted with incredible resources to help residents succeed. With a staff of over 50 anesthesiologists spanning critical access hospitals, major tertiary care centers and centers of excellence in burn, trauma, pediatrics, cardiothoracic and neurosurgery, we will provide an unrivaled depth and breadth of experience.

Education will teach and integrate evidence-based medicine, creating a class fluent in producing and interpreting clinical studies to optimize medical decision making. Research will seek answers to the clinical questions designed to keep our patients safe and advance our field. Humanitarianism and altruism will be infused into practice to instill an ideal of service whether at home or abroad. Health policy training will incorporate experiences with policy makers, lawyers and regulators to describe the healthcare environment and what can be done to bring about positive change.

We are enrolling those seeking to be leaders in the field of anesthesiology. Expert anesthesiologists will teach you through simulation, multimedia, integration with artificial intelligence as you encounter complex clinical patients. Through it all, specifically designed social activities will bring the team together and promote meaningful reflection on building an enjoyable blend of personal and professional life.

As the program director, I welcome you to check out our program. I am excited to get started!

Sincerely,
Brian Wilhelmi, MD, JD, FASA
