Maureen Hermann, DNP, RN
Associate Professor
Dr. Maureen Hermann brings over two decades of experience in nursing education and leadership, with a deep commitment to shaping compassionate, skilled, and forward-thinking nursing professionals. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1995), a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus in Nursing Education (2011), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Leadership (2016), all from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois.
Throughout her career, Dr. Hermann has taught and mentored students at every level of nursing education—from undergraduate learners beginning their clinical journeys to graduate students preparing for advanced practice and leadership roles. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes academic excellence, personal integrity, and a deep-rooted commitment to faith, compassion, and service.
Dr. Hermann is passionate about creating academic environments where students feel supported, empowered, and prepared to become change agents in healthcare. She believes that nursing education should not only prepare students to deliver exceptional patient care, but also inspire them to become leaders and advocates for positive, lasting change in their communities and professions.

Dr. Hermann’s teaching interests include educating and mentoring students through innovative curriculum development and active learning strategies. She is dedicated to fostering leadership skills, developing essential clinical reasoning and critical thinking abilities, and preparing the next generation of nurses to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in diverse and dynamic healthcare settings.
Research:
Dr. Hermann’s research interests focus on ethics, caring, kindness, and gratitude within nursing practice. She is especially passionate about exploring the role of positive communication and building student confidence. Dr. Hermann is also actively involved in developing effective teaching strategies for both in-person and online learning environments.
