Dr. Itay Melamed is a board-certified neurosurgeon with comprehensive training and expertise in both open vascular and endovascular surgical techniques. He specializes in treating a wide range of neurovascular disorders, including brain aneurysms, vascular malformations of the brain and spine, carotid stenosis, and moya-moya disease. His dual training allows him to offer individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs.
Dr. Melamed completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Missouri - Columbia, where he had the distinct honor of learning from mentors such as Mike Dittmore, a surgeon mentored by the esteemed Dr. Drake, a pioneer in the field of brain aneurysm surgery. He further honed his skills through an open vascular fellowship and an endovascular fellowship at Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine in Indianapolis. Following his fellowship, Dr. Melamed established his own practice in Denver, where he also founded and directed a specialized skull base program focused on managing complex brain tumors. More recently, he played a key role in developing a radial artery approach program for endovascular procedures at Geisinger in Northeast Pennsylvania.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Melamed greatly values spending time with his family. He is delighted to be practicing at CHI in Omaha, Nebraska, and appreciates the welcoming and family-oriented atmosphere of the city.
