Thomas F . Murray, PhD

Provost Emeritus

Adjunct Professor

Graduate of the University of Washington Department of Pharmacology and an alum of the NIH Pharmacology Research Associate Training Program (PRAT) at the NIMH Laboratory of Preclinical Pharmacology. Served as Head of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine from 1997-2006, as Chair of the Department of Pharmacology at Creighton University School of Medicine from 2006-2016, and Provost of Creighton University from 2016-2020.

Research Focus

Five decades of extramurally-funded neuropharmaological research have advanced our understanding of adenosine receptor mechanisms, dextrorotatory opioid interaction with NMDA receptors, pyrethroid insecticide toxicology, the interplay between voltage-gated sodium channels and NMDA receptors and the manifold actions of novel marine natural products.
