Dr. Tamara L. Oliver, PhD, MPH, RN, is an Assistant Professor in the Creighton University College of Nursing, where she teaches across clinical, simulation, and didactic courses and serves as a course leader for Care Management III. A critical care nurse by background, she brings extensive experience in cardiovascular care, transplant coordination, research management, and quality improvement. Dr. Oliver holds a PhD in Nursingand aMaster of Public Health from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Creighton University.
Her scholarship focuses on patient safety, caregiver outcomes, and the integration of innovative technologies—including virtual nursing models, simulation, and artificial intelligence—to enhance care delivery and nursing education. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and contributes to funded research on AI-enabled communication training and the experiences of Virtually Integrated Care nurses.
An engaged mentor, Dr. Oliver leads undergraduate research through the SPARK and SURF programs, guiding students in projects on hospital-acquired pressure injuries and evidence-based practice. She serves on multiple college committees, including Scholarship & Awards, Research, SPARK, and the AI Task Force. Dr. Oliver is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Midwest Nursing Research Society, and the Nebraska Nurses Association. She has received several teaching and scholarship awards and remains committed to advancing high-quality nursing education, patient-centered outcomes, and innovative approaches to clinical practice.
