Occupational Therapy Neurology Fellowship
Practice, Teach and Serve the Community
As a fellow in this program, you’ll participate in interprofessional practice at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy and Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, NE. This includes seeing clients across practice settings including acute care, intensive care, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient care focused on neurorehabilitation. You’ll also be involved with academic teaching in the entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at Creighton.
Program Highlights
- Focus on neurorehabilitation practice with our clinical partners:
- CHI Health Creighton — Bergan Mercy (acute care and intensive care)
- CHI Immanuel Rehabilitation Institute (inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation)
- Academic mentorship in development and delivery of lecture and laboratory experiences in on-campus, hybrid and online teaching environments
- Mentoring by highly motivated and experienced neurorehabilitation faculty and practitioners
- Support to attend state and national conferences and the AOTA Fieldwork Educator Certification Course
- Interprofessional common core curriculum and collaboration with physical therapy residents and faculty
- Engage in a scholarly research project with a platform presentation at the conclusion of the fellowship year
- Engage in community service
Focused Neurorehabilitation Practice
The Creighton University Occupational Therapy Fellowship programs strive to:
- Foster development of expert clinical skills in new practitioners through mentored practice, didactic learning, interprofessional education and self-assessment and reflection
- Cultivate development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills through self-guided discovery and research
- Support growth of the occupational therapy profession through mentored training of skills in academia, scholarship, and through support of local, national and international service initiatives to enhance the lives of others
- Live out the Ignatian values in the delivery of occupational therapy services and in the education of entry-level occupational therapy students
- Deliver high quality, team-based, interprofessional care for clients and education to entry-level occupational therapy students

Application Criteria
- Graduates from accredited occupational therapy doctorate programs preferred. We will consider applicants from accredited occupational therapy master’s programs.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in clinical and academic settings.
- Recommend completion of a Level II Fieldwork, Doctoral Capstone Experience or practice experience in the focused area of practice.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and teamwork abilities to work with a variety of individuals, including family members, clients, community members and other professionals.

- Applications are reviewed by a penel of fellowship faculty. Qualified candidates will be invited for an on-site interview. Fellowship programs begin on August 1.
